Dave, regarding your desire to have a twitter community for your blog, why can't you just set up a laconi.ca server? This would allow you to play with the design and customize it to your heart's content. Leo Laporte has one running for his twit community on army.twit.tv

I see what you mean. Anyway, you seem like the type of guy who likes to build his own open system. The problem with laconi.ca is that it tries to imitate twitter too much, rather than making any real innovation on its own.

They even anticipated they would have the same problem -- scaling -- that Twitter has.
But it turns out their problem is generating interest in their product.

Personally thinking I think this has been the best episode yet. Like Marshall, I was facinated once you started taking Real Time beyond Twitter and the like. I could have gone on for longer and I'd have been very happy.
Both Bad Hair and Rebooting the News have gone from strength to strength. The common theme between the two for me (re the way in which they've improved) is that the early episodes discussed the issues and as time has gone on the newer episodes have started to discuss ideas on how to solve those issues and take things forward. This week Bad Hair had the real time spread sheet and Reboot had Jay's 100% coverage target of school meetings.

Great podcast Dave (Marshall too). In terms of URL shortening, good to see people championing the cause of change.
Quick question. With sharing, threaded comments, likes, subscription services etc.. what do you think about Google reader as an alternative to FF? It's a bit of a kluge but I'm using it more and more as an alternative to FF.
FYI - I'm getting a 404 on the clonefeed URL. Anyone else having issues?
